ARTISTS STATEMENT

 

 

In my work I am striving to capture that sense of wonder and discovery felt when entering a museum or library; the feeling of reflective quiet and awe one senses in a  cathedral; the curiosity or voyeuristic thrill at seeing something not intended.

The resulting works are mixed media sculptures comprised of wood, glass, stone, LED lights, paint, and a variety of other materials. 

I am striving to develop pieces that work on many levels, a visual journey drawing the viewer in to discover yet another visual experience. I believe my use of light enhances that visual experience and opens the door for a more spiritual perspective. I want these mixed media sculptures to pull the viewer back again and again to explore and reflect.
